So the theory is that I can place web sites in the first server and they will replicate (glusterfs) to the other server, right?

My question is how does the "cluster" work? What drives the traffic to one server or the other? If www.domain.com points to the first ip, then what happens to load balance or to redirect to the second server if the first goes down? How or where is this set up or is it already? The tutorial seemed to end abruptly. It would have been nice to have a "Try this to see how it works" section.

I have just finished following the guide through found at http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-se...ispconfig-3-p5 to install ispconfig 3 on a ubunta 10.4 virtual server. To be honest I didn't expect it to work anywhere near as smoothly as it did, so I wasn't worrying to much about what settings I was choosing.

Anyway, having run through everything, I don't appear to have any major issues. what I have noticed however is that in the "DNS Zone" area, the server is listed as "server1.test.com".

So I am wondering, can I change this? If so, how do I do so? I'm guessing I buy a domain from a domain registrar (I'm accessing via the IP atm), use my servers IP as the name server and somehow tell the ispconfig that the server name is now whatever domain I buy?

Also - will this be likely to cause me problems?

i am a long time ispconfig user, and i am very satisfied with it.
recently i came into a problem namely when i wanted to add a mysql enabled site i just couldn't create the db user, than i found out that on the settings page the MySQL option is missing (hopefully the attached screenshot describes it well). I have started using ISPConfig years ago and upgraded since that many times, yesterday i upgraded to the most recent release version, but the problem was not solved.



please let me know if i can provide you additional information, i will now start to compare a brand new database to my current one and see if there are structural differences. i will report back when ready, please let me know if you have a good idea how i could fix this.

1. Created a new user from Admin at my SERVER DOMAIN.
2. Logged out of Admin and signed into new user
3. In Site, i created a NEW DOMAIN that has its NS pointed at my IP. I've checked and confirmed that the NEW DOMAIN is running off my server.
4. I created a FTP server...named the user clammy7777 and created the password.
5. Tried logging into FTP server as client clammy7777 into NEW DOMAIN. Somehow, it kept saying that my password is wrong. What is the right way to log into ISPConfig's FTP? Please help! Thanks!

I'm trying to do a 2 Ubuntu 10.04 servers cluster with ispc3 and powerdns :
- server 1 with web, mysql, dns, mail etc
- server 2 with dns replicated from server 1

I've follow 'The Perfect Server – Ubuntu 10.04 [ISPConfig 3]' and the 'Installing A Multiserver Setup With Dedicated Web, Email, DNS And MySQL Database Servers On Debian 5.0 With ISPConfig 3' for the clustering howto

All seems ok but I've notice that if I'm turning off pdns & pdns-recursor on server 1, server 2 can't resolv anymore !
I don't have any resolver in /etc/resolv.conf and there isn't server 1 in any pdns config files.

Then I've put '2' for $conf["log_priority"] in /usr/local/ispconfig/server/lib/config.inc.php and launch the server.sh script as root user (no su or sudo, but logged as root), I can see no errors, just some warnings about 'PHP Deprecated: Comments starting with '#' are deprecated'

So I've check the databases 'dbispconfig' and 'powerdns' : none of the dns_* tables are replicated, and none of the 'powerdns' tables too.
